Staff from the Alabama Emergency Management Agency spent two days this week conducting divisional meetings and training for local, county and state partner agencies.

Wednesday’s Division E meeting was held in Muscle Shoals in Colbert County. AEMA Field Operations Laura Patterson provided training on Alabama’s Safer Places Act guidelines – this legislation helps counties provide guidance to organizations who wish to provide safer places for severe weather sheltering. Caleb Williams also presented information on the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) program.

Thursday, Jeff Green, Cody Williams, Garrett Strickland, Alicia Reed, Yosheika Ware and Kevin Pickett of the AEMA IT and communications teams provided training on a new software interface that will speed up communication and information sharing during disaster response.

Each Alabama EMA Division conducts quarterly meetings in an effort to promote preparedness and build a more resilient Alabama.
