Slightly drier air across the state has kept heat index values from reaching advisory criteria today.  As a result, all Heat Advisories have been canceled.  It currently appears temperatures will remain below advisory criteria through most of next week.

As discussed yesterday, an active pattern is setting up across at least the Southeastern US through at least next Thursday, with periodic Mesoscale Convective Systems (MCS).  An MCS is an organized group of thunderstorms that lasts for several hours to a day.

One MCS is forecast to give a glancing blow to areas north of I-20 this evening.  Although there is only a 20-30% chance of any precipitation, if storms do occur, a couple could produce wind gusts from 40-60 mph between 6 pm and 12 am.

After a dry day on Sunday, chances of precipitation will increase on Monday due to MCS activity.  These storms could produce damaging wind gusts and very heavy rainfall at any time of day, but confidence is very low more than 24 hours in advance on both the timing and placement of an individual MCS.
