CLANTON – Thursday, 6:30 am, May 7, 2026

At 6 am, a line of thunderstorms was located across the tornado watch area.  Very heavy rainfall with potential flooding, damaging wind gusts, and a couple of tornadoes are all possible until the watch expires.

After a quiet period from this afternoon through Friday morning, scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will enter the western portions of the state Friday afternoon and evening and spread statewide on Saturday.  The activity will continue through Sunday afternoon.

A couple of damaging wind gusts are possible Saturday afternoon and evening, but widespread severe weather will not occur.  An additional and widespread 1-3 inches of rainfall will occur through Sunday afternoon, especially across the southern half of Alabama.  Some of the stronger storms may produce locally higher amounts, with brief flooding possible.
