Welcome to the Alabama Emergency Management Agency.  Our agency is one of the most unique in State Government.

In my more than 20 years of experience in Emergency Management, I have had the opportunity to be a part of many events that assisted in giving Alabamians some sense of   normalcy when disaster interrupted their lives.   As the Director of this agency I am delighted that you can be a part of that.

Our responsibilities are to distribute timely and accurate information; manage resources, services and personnel; and create a unity of response, recovery, coordination and control.

Our mission is to coordinate resources during disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

Our goal is to successfully respond and recover from any incident that may impact the lives of Alabamians.

As a result of the April 27, 2011 tornadoes our agency learned valuable lessons and implemented priorities for response and recovery. Our priorities are 1) Life Saving; 2) Incident Stabilization; 3) Protect Property; and 4) Needs/Damage Assessment.  In addition, AEMA learned disaster coordination from one location can create many issues.  As a result, our field response structure was created. We now have seven geographical divisions throughout the State.  AEMA Field Coordinators lead the State efforts in each of these divisions.

The changes we have implemented will improve our preparation, response, and recovery to future disasters.  I look forward to your contribution to this agency and our State.
