CLANTON – Wednesday, 8:00 am June 28, 2023
Temperatures will be on the rise today into the weekend. Where Excessive Heat Warnings are in effect, afternoon heat index values will range from 111-118. These are very dangerous levels. Excessive Heat Warnings will likely be extended into Saturday. In addition, overnight low temperatures at most locations will be in the lower to middle 70s from tonight through Sunday morning which will provide little relief from the afternoon heat.
On Sunday, just a small drop in high temperatures is forecast with highs from the lower to middle 90s. This may be just low enough for the NWS to not issue an Excessive Heat Warning, but heat index values will still range from 105-110.
Young children and older adults, especially those with pre existing medical conditions, are more at risk to the heat. If you must do outdoor work, do it during the morning or evening hours. Drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks if you must be outdoors.
It is NEVER safe to leave a pet, disabled person or child in a locked car without the air conditioner running. If you have a toddler in your household, lock your cars, even in your own driveway so they don’t wander in them. They can die in as little as 10 minutes! 33 children died in hot cars in 2022.

Thanks for all the weather alerts. They are very helpeful
