Three waves of strong to severe thunderstorms are will occur from this afternoon into Thursday. Timing graphics are provided below.
For the remainder of the afternoon, a couple of damaging wind gusts and large hail are possible in far south Alabama.
After midnight, another wave of storms will move from west to east across the state, moving into Georgia by mid-morning. A few damaging wind gusts and hail up to hen egg size are possible.
The third and more potent wave will follow on wave two’s heels by late Wednesday morning, and may not clear south Alabama early Thursday morning before intensifying somewhat late Thursday morning into the afternoon. Wind gusts to 70 mph, hail up to baseball size, torrential/flooding rainfall and possibly a tornado or two will all be possible from late morning Wednesday into early morning Thursday.
