CLANTON – Sunday, 7:30 am March 12, 2023
A line of thunderstorms with extensive rain behind the line pushed farther southward overnight than previously forecast. As a result, areas south of Hwy 80 – I-85 have a risk for a few damaging wind gusts, hail, and possibly a tornado or two. No severe weather will occur north of Hwy 80 – I-85.
This initial line will continue to push southward toward the coast this morning. Then, redevelopment of a few storms in far southern Alabama may occur later this afternoon into the early evening along a strong cold front.
Dry and cool conditions will occur from late tonight through Thursday. Many locations north of I-20 will be in the upper 20s with lower 30s between I-20 and Hwy 80 – I-85 both Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Rain and thunderstorms are forecast on Friday, but confidence is currently low for any severe weather.
