Chemical Accident

In Anniston, Alabama, which is located in the north east part of our state, chemical weapons destruction will take place at the Anniston Army Depot. While it is unlikely that a chemical accident will occur at the Anniston Army Depot, it is very important that you know what to do in case of a chemical disaster.

There are six counties nearest the Depot considered to be at the greatest risk. They are:

• Talladega County
• Etowah County

It is important to understand the different siren tones so that when they are sounded, you are aware of the proper actions to take to protect yourself from harm. You should also understand the proper Safety Action Procedures, which may require you to evacuate, or Shelter In Place.
