Mutual Aid

Mutual Aid in Alabama

The Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is working with the Alabama Mutual Assistance Advisory Committee to establish an overall mutual aid system in Alabama. The statewide organization includes, but is not limited to, state and local enforcement, fire, rescue, health, hospitals, environmental, and existing mutual aid groups north and south Alabama. Some of the main goals and objectives of the Alabama Mutual Aid System will be to identify groups and resources that can be utilized during disasters and have agreements and policies and procedures in place to utilize them in the event of a disaster. Other goals and objectives include determining a regional structure, complete resource typing, and determining protocols and procedures for dispatch, mobilization, and deployment of resources. A statewide mutual aid system will enable state and local agencies to respond to emergency and disaster events sooner with necessary resources.
