Preparedness Division - Training

Training is an important function in emergency management. AEMA conducts various training courses for state and local emergency response personnel. This includes training for first responders like fire, police, emergency medical services, hospital workers, volunteer groups, and local officials. This training is not available to the general public. However FEMA home study courses are available to the general public. In addition, FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team program provides training in emergency preparedness and in basic response techniques to local trainers who in turn train citizens, enabling them to take a more active role in personal and public safety.
